Vinted Users Share Displeasure Over Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
